The Doctor 9/2/19

It was one of the most powerful plays I've seen in London. I left the theatre with fatigue and swirling feelings. Such an exciting script, direction, and actors.

As an audience I had an opinion about the issue they encounter in the play. There was a part of me taking a side even before I noticed. Then as I follow the story and joining the character's journey I shifted. I felt conflicted.

Many of the social issues we have today, even the smaller ones between friends and family, are extremely complicated. There is no easy way out because there are different perspectives. The Doctor depicts how each of us stands in a different position with our own reason.

The great plays are the ones that portray the characters' changes throughout the story. It's needless to say how well the play is written when it succeeds in shifting the audience in 2 hours while they are sitting in their seats.

The Doctor challenged us in every way. It's fierce, adventurous, thrilling, and personal. There is no director that excites me as Robert Icke. What a phenomenal production. Lastly, Juliet Stevenson delivered a multi-layered role with great energy and drive. She carries on leading everyone till the very end of the play and it looks effortless. Her stamina, openness, and presence on stage is jaw-dropping. I am grateful to witness such a performance.

I have my fingers crossed for the production to happen despite all the situations and postponement due to COVID-19. It is a play worth a watch for everyone.
